Questions
Wait — is this crypto?
Yes. Caribou holds Bitcoin and other digital money. We just don't think you should need a computer-science degree — or a leap of faith — to own your own money. Everything here is built to be plain, honest, and fully in your control.
Who actually controls my money?
You do — completely. Your money lives on your own device, and only you can open it. Bisoncraft never holds it and can't access, move, or recover it. That control is yours — and so is the responsibility for keeping your backup safe.
What happens if I lose my backup?
The honest answer: your money becomes unrecoverable. Nobody — including Bisoncraft — can restore it, because nobody else ever had it. This is the trade-off for real ownership, so keep your recovery phrase somewhere safe.
Do I need to show ID or sign up?
No — not to hold or move your own money. There are no accounts and no ID checks. The one exception is the optional way to buy with cash: that's a third-party service that runs its own checks. Using it is a choice, and nothing else depends on it.
What does Caribou cost?
Caribou is free and open source under the Blue Oak license. The only cost is the small transaction fee for sending money, and that never goes to Bisoncraft.

How is this different from Bison Wallet?
Caribou is built by the same team, carrying forward years of work from Bison Wallet and DCRDEX — refocused into an app that puts everyday people in full control of their own money, with no company in the middle and no ID checks.
